Apollo 8 is an elegant update to one of the worlds most popular professional audio interfaces delivering enhanced sound with the tone, feel, and flow of analogue recording.

This 18 x 24 Thunderbolt 2 interface offers genuine UA analogue design, and next-generation A/D and D/A conversion, putting class-leading audio quality in a sleek new package. Built on UA's 50 year legacy of analogue design excellence, Apollo 8 also features powerful UAD-2 QUAD or DUO processing and four onboard Unison mic preamps, delivering sonic performance that surpasses anything in its class.

The original Apollo, introduced in 2012, quickly became a gold standard among modern music producers and engineers it now counts many of the worlds top artists as users. Apollo 8 improves upon the original Apollos sound quality with completely redesigned, class-leading A/D and D/A conversion giving you increased dynamic range and even lower THD.

Building upon a 50-year legacy of circuit design, UA engineers started with an obsessive audition of the latest converters, pairing them with completely redesigned analogue circuitry. Confirmed by extensive double-blind listening tests, the end result is 3 dB better dynamic range on both A/D and D/A conversion versus the original Apollo, placing the Apollo 8 as the measurable class leader.

Imagine having a classic analogue studio, in single rack space. Apollo 8 lets you record through UAD Powered Plug-Ins including vintage EQs, compressors, reverbs, tape machines and more at near-zero latency, regardless of your audio software buffer size. With award-winning UAD plug-ins from Ampex, Lexicon, Neve, Manley, Roland, SSL, Studer, and more,* Apollo 8 serves up authentic analogue tone and warmth.

The key to its analogue sound is onboard UAD-2 DUO or QUAD DSP Processing, which powers the UAD plug-ins while reducing the strain on your host computer.

Apollo 8 comes bundled with Realtime analogue Classics Plus suite of UAD plug-ins. From there, you can choose from a vast and expanding collection of plug-ins in the UA Online Store.

Apollo 8 comes equipped with four Unison-enabled mic preamps, letting you track projects with colourful mic preamp sounds from Neve, API, and Universal Audio. An Apollo breakthrough, Unison technology nails the tone of these sought-after tube and solid state mic preamps including their impedance, gain stage sweet spots, and component-level circuit behaviours. The secret to Unison is its hardware-software integration between Apollos mic preamps and its onboard UAD-2 processing. Simply place a selected tube or solid state preamp plug-in on your desired mic input, and record in real time through stunning emulations like the bundled UA 610-B Tube Preamp plug-in, or the Neve 1073 and API 212L.

Apollo 8 is further enhanced by adding Unison technology to its front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs, giving you dead-on impedance and gain matching for new stompbox models like the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808. Apollo 8 features a host of front-panel upgrades over the original Apollo, including Alt Speakers, Dim, and Mono functions as well as input and output metering capabilities.

Thanks to Apollo Expanded software, users of Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo Twin, Apollo 8, Apollo 8p, and Apollo 16 audio interfaces can combine up to four Apollos and six total UAD-2 devices adding I/O and DSP as your studio grows. Apollo Expanded also provides seamless integration with previous generation Apollos over Thunderbolt. With Apollo 8s Console 2.0 application a complete re-imagining of Apollos original Console software you can take advantage of over 25 new user-requested features such as Channel Strip presets, Drag Drop functionality, dynamically resizable windows, and more.

THE HISTORY OF MANNYS

When you shop at Mannys you don’t just get the gear, you get the knowledge and expertise of 25 years of experience as one of Australia’s most influential independent music retailers.

In the beginning…

After managing the Allan’s city store for 10 years, an ambitious Manny Gauci-Seddon decided to open his own music store. He wanted his shop to uphold the values of true support and after-sales service, and to form genuine ongoing relationships with his customer base. The trends of the industry at that time were pointing to more of a disposable, corporate mentality and so in the early years he set out to make a name for himself as a serious independent alternative.

The first store was a funky shop in Smith Street, Collingwood in 1991. By 1998 Manny had outgrown this store and saw the need to focus more on the upcoming computer based recording revolution. He established an address in Johnson St Fitzroy as the arts were booming on the north side of the city. In the same year the opportunity came to acquire a business on Chapel St – the Revolver Music Gallery. With a two store operation Manny was now making the difference he set out to 7 years earlier. The Mannys brand was known for knowledge and service, with the staff greatly sought after for their experience. Unlike the other major players, the focus was not just on sales but also on the process of making music.

When the opportunity came to consolidate into one superstore, the North Fitzroy address seemed perfect for the move. Manny wanted to expand his customer base to include more of the musicians turning to the internet due to the lacklustre service of his competitors. He took the best from both stores and moved his operation to the hub of music and musicians just north of the city.

In November 2016 Mannys was sold to SoundBay Pty Ltd, the operator of Australia’s largest DJ and production retailer, Store DJ. While the essence of Mannys Music will always exist, our mission for Mannys Music moving forward is to ensure that we continue to build the ultimate experience for our customers online or in store. Our sales staff remain knowledgeable, professional musicians first and sales people second. Mannys Music gives you one hub to purchase all of your gear, and if we don’t have it, we’ll try our hardest to get it for you.

Mannys – The best advice you can give a musician.
