Description

Few acoustic guitar brands can boast a history and pedigree as rich as Sigma. Established in 1970 by one of the worlds most famous acoustic guitar manufacturers, Sigma now enjoys a world-wide reputation for quality, playability and superior tone. Based on classic US acoustic designs, every Sigma delivers a sound that you would expect from much higher-priced American made guitars.

Sigma instruments manufactured in Japan in the 1970s are now highly sought after by collectors and treasured by their owners. There is a Sigma for every playing style and musical taste. The range offers a number of different models including Dreadnoughts, 000s, OMs, Grand Auditoriums and acoustic basses. Every Sigma has a solid top and there are a number of all-solid models at the higher end of the range. Gloss and satin finishes, along with a stunning array of sunbursts and Fishman electronics make the Sigma range the most comprehensive in todays acoustic marketplace.

THE HISTORY OF MANNYS

When you shop at Mannys you don’t just get the gear, you get the knowledge and expertise of 25 years of experience as one of Australia’s most influential independent music retailers.

In the beginning…

After managing the Allan’s city store for 10 years, an ambitious Manny Gauci-Seddon decided to open his own music store. He wanted his shop to uphold the values of true support and after-sales service, and to form genuine ongoing relationships with his customer base. The trends of the industry at that time were pointing to more of a disposable, corporate mentality and so in the early years he set out to make a name for himself as a serious independent alternative.

The first store was a funky shop in Smith Street, Collingwood in 1991. By 1998 Manny had outgrown this store and saw the need to focus more on the upcoming computer based recording revolution. He established an address in Johnson St Fitzroy as the arts were booming on the north side of the city. In the same year the opportunity came to acquire a business on Chapel St – the Revolver Music Gallery. With a two store operation Manny was now making the difference he set out to 7 years earlier. The Mannys brand was known for knowledge and service, with the staff greatly sought after for their experience. Unlike the other major players, the focus was not just on sales but also on the process of making music.

When the opportunity came to consolidate into one superstore, the North Fitzroy address seemed perfect for the move. Manny wanted to expand his customer base to include more of the musicians turning to the internet due to the lacklustre service of his competitors. He took the best from both stores and moved his operation to the hub of music and musicians just north of the city.

In November 2016 Mannys was sold to SoundBay Pty Ltd, the operator of Australia’s largest DJ and production retailer, Store DJ. While the essence of Mannys Music will always exist, our mission for Mannys Music moving forward is to ensure that we continue to build the ultimate experience for our customers online or in store. Our sales staff remain knowledgeable, professional musicians first and sales people second. Mannys Music gives you one hub to purchase all of your gear, and if we don’t have it, we’ll try our hardest to get it for you.

Mannys – The best advice you can give a musician.
