Description

As an electric guitarist in the 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options for you that really worked. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or the dreaded extended sound check.

The APX series didnt just focus on sound - every element was tweaked to be an easy switch for an electric player on-stage, from the stylish finishes to the cutaway body and the slim, electric-guitar style neck.

In any electro-acoustic, the combination of the guitars acoustic sound and its pickup is the heart of the sound. The latest APX600 features a unique undersaddle piezo pickup, Yamahas proprietary Pickup-R transducer the same pickup as featured in the highly acclaimed A Series range and boasting incredible dynamic range, natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound that guitarists need and want. Yamahas legendary active preamp is still a big feature of APX, and being built by Yamahas audio-visual division, the sound quality is everything youd expect from the worlds number one.

Styles have changed a little since 1987, but the essence of APX is the same as ever. Todays APX guitars boast a more natural look, 5mm deeper body for better bass response and greater volume and, under the hood, a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

The APX600 combines all the attributes that made its predecessor, the APX500, one of the worlds best-selling acoustic-electric guitars, along with a few comfort and cosmetic upgrades.

Features Thin-line cutaway body design for exceptional playability
25" scale length and narrower string spacing for enhanced comfort
New bracing pattern for increased bass response
Abalone soundhole rosette
Stage-focused pickup system for shaping your sound in the mix

THE HISTORY OF MANNYS

When you shop at Mannys you don’t just get the gear, you get the knowledge and expertise of 25 years of experience as one of Australia’s most influential independent music retailers.

In the beginning…

After managing the Allan’s city store for 10 years, an ambitious Manny Gauci-Seddon decided to open his own music store. He wanted his shop to uphold the values of true support and after-sales service, and to form genuine ongoing relationships with his customer base. The trends of the industry at that time were pointing to more of a disposable, corporate mentality and so in the early years he set out to make a name for himself as a serious independent alternative.

The first store was a funky shop in Smith Street, Collingwood in 1991. By 1998 Manny had outgrown this store and saw the need to focus more on the upcoming computer based recording revolution. He established an address in Johnson St Fitzroy as the arts were booming on the north side of the city. In the same year the opportunity came to acquire a business on Chapel St – the Revolver Music Gallery. With a two store operation Manny was now making the difference he set out to 7 years earlier. The Mannys brand was known for knowledge and service, with the staff greatly sought after for their experience. Unlike the other major players, the focus was not just on sales but also on the process of making music.

When the opportunity came to consolidate into one superstore, the North Fitzroy address seemed perfect for the move. Manny wanted to expand his customer base to include more of the musicians turning to the internet due to the lacklustre service of his competitors. He took the best from both stores and moved his operation to the hub of music and musicians just north of the city.

In November 2016 Mannys was sold to SoundBay Pty Ltd, the operator of Australia’s largest DJ and production retailer, Store DJ. While the essence of Mannys Music will always exist, our mission for Mannys Music moving forward is to ensure that we continue to build the ultimate experience for our customers online or in store. Our sales staff remain knowledgeable, professional musicians first and sales people second. Mannys Music gives you one hub to purchase all of your gear, and if we don’t have it, we’ll try our hardest to get it for you.

Mannys – The best advice you can give a musician.
