Description

The Radial ProD8 is a high performance 8-channel passive direct box optimized for keyboard rigs in professional touring. The design begins with fully redundant dual " inputs on all channels. These are summed together to enable the system tech to patch in a backup keyboard and have it on standby should a device go down during a show. This also enables up to 16 keyboards or 8 stereo sets to be connected should the need arise. A (shared) " TRS effects insert jack on each channel allows two keyboards to share the same effect while adding greater routing options while " thru-put delivers a direct feed to the artist's playback system.

The engine inside is a custom wound Eclipse ET-DB2 transformer that performs both the impedance matching and balancing. Linear from 20Hz to 20kHz, it is able to withstand the extreme dynamics common with today's digital keyboards. Unlike active circuits that overload and square wave when the rail voltage is exceeded, transformers saturate. This means that as the signal increases, the ProD8 naturally rounds out the tone producing a warm Bessel curve reminiscent of the very best vintage audio gear. The other significant advantage to this passive design is 100% galvanic isolation between the source and destination. This eliminates hum and buzz caused by ground loops, resulting in a quieter stage.

The output panel features isolated XLRs each equipped with ground lift and 180 polarity reverse. Internal switches may be routed to accommodate various schemes such as star grounding. To enhance setup options, the Radial ProD8 is equipped with reversible rack ears. This handy feature allows the system tech to position the inputs on the front of the rack when interfacing with external keyboards or have them inside if the setup is predominantly equipped with rack modules.

The Radial ProD8 delivers unsurpassed audio quality, is able to withstand extreme dynamics, eliminates noise and presents a wide range of setup options. It is no wonder that it has become the world's most popular rack DI for concert touring.

Features High density 8-channel rackmount DI for keyboards
Withstands extreme dynamics from digital sources
Redundant inputs let you incorporate backup system
Reversible rack ears to optimize patching setup

THE HISTORY OF MANNYS

When you shop at Mannys you don’t just get the gear, you get the knowledge and expertise of 25 years of experience as one of Australia’s most influential independent music retailers.

In the beginning…

After managing the Allan’s city store for 10 years, an ambitious Manny Gauci-Seddon decided to open his own music store. He wanted his shop to uphold the values of true support and after-sales service, and to form genuine ongoing relationships with his customer base. The trends of the industry at that time were pointing to more of a disposable, corporate mentality and so in the early years he set out to make a name for himself as a serious independent alternative.

The first store was a funky shop in Smith Street, Collingwood in 1991. By 1998 Manny had outgrown this store and saw the need to focus more on the upcoming computer based recording revolution. He established an address in Johnson St Fitzroy as the arts were booming on the north side of the city. In the same year the opportunity came to acquire a business on Chapel St – the Revolver Music Gallery. With a two store operation Manny was now making the difference he set out to 7 years earlier. The Mannys brand was known for knowledge and service, with the staff greatly sought after for their experience. Unlike the other major players, the focus was not just on sales but also on the process of making music.

When the opportunity came to consolidate into one superstore, the North Fitzroy address seemed perfect for the move. Manny wanted to expand his customer base to include more of the musicians turning to the internet due to the lacklustre service of his competitors. He took the best from both stores and moved his operation to the hub of music and musicians just north of the city.

In November 2016 Mannys was sold to SoundBay Pty Ltd, the operator of Australia’s largest DJ and production retailer, Store DJ. While the essence of Mannys Music will always exist, our mission for Mannys Music moving forward is to ensure that we continue to build the ultimate experience for our customers online or in store. Our sales staff remain knowledgeable, professional musicians first and sales people second. Mannys Music gives you one hub to purchase all of your gear, and if we don’t have it, we’ll try our hardest to get it for you.

Mannys – The best advice you can give a musician.
